Clapp Therapy Intensives
Focused time. Deep healing. Real change.
Veronica Clapp, LPC, NCC
I am a licensed professional counselor with 14 years of experience working with clients across a wide range of concerns. Over time, I have honed my practice to specialize in the treatment of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). My work in these areas has shown me how frequently OCD and PTSD intersect and reinforce one another, which is why I often use an integrated approach to address both.
In addition to my professional training, I am deeply committed to my own personal therapeutic work. I know firsthand what it is like to sit in the client chair, and I bring that perspective into every session. My treatment modalities include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP/EXRP), Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT). I am also IFS-informed and enjoy exploring and integrating different parts that come into play for each client. I draw from these evidence-based approaches in an eclectic and thoughtful way, always guided by each client’s unique needs.
My approach is highly client-centered. While I bring extensive knowledge and experience, I believe that you are the expert on yourself. I value curiosity, collaboration, and truly getting to know each client so we can tailor therapy in a way that feels effective, supportive, and meaningful to you.
Therapy Intensives
-
A therapy intensive is a concentrated form of therapy that provides extended, uninterrupted sessions over one or more days to allow for deeper and more focused healing work. It is designed to help clients make meaningful progress more quickly than traditional weekly therapy.
-
Therapy intensives offer concentrated support for individuals who feel stuck, face complex challenges, or want meaningful change in a shorter timeframe than traditional weekly sessions.
-
Research indicates that therapy intensives can be as effective as traditional weekly therapy for many conditions. Studies show significant reductions in PTSD, anxiety, and depression following condensed treatment formats, with outcomes comparable to standard therapy and sustained gains months after treatment.
Intensive psychotherapy programs have demonstrated greater symptom improvement than wait-list or treatment-as-usual conditions, particularly for chronic depression. Trauma-focused intensives—such as daily EMDR or prolonged exposure—are associated with lasting reductions in PTSD symptoms and high treatment retention, with benefits maintained for up to a year.
There is also strong evidence supporting Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) as an effective treatment for OCD, with growing research showing that intensive ERP can accelerate progress and lead to meaningful symptom reduction.
Together, these findings support the effectiveness of focused, uninterrupted therapeutic work in producing rapid and lasting change comparable to longer courses of traditional therapy.
Goals for Our Work Together
In a therapy intensive, we aim to create a safe, focused space where deeper healing work can happen without the typical interruptions of your average day. Our goal is to help you gain clarity around patterns, experiences, and beliefs that may be keeping you stuck. We will work to reduce distress, strengthen emotional regulation, and support your nervous system in moving toward stability and resilience. Together, we will identify practical tools and insights you can continue using after the intensive ends. Ultimately, we hope you leave feeling more grounded, empowered, and equipped for lasting change.

In this stage, Veronica will meet with you in person or via video to better get to know you, understand your experiences, and clarify your goals for trauma and/or OCD treatment. We’ll use evidence-based assessments to better understand symptom severity, trauma history, and—when relevant—patterns of obsessions, compulsions, and avoidance, so we can create a plan that truly fits your needs.
Connect with Veronica for a free 20-minute phone consult to explore your goals and ensure we’re a good fit. During this time, we will discuss where your symptoms impact you the most to determine what treatment modalities/locations may work best for you—at home, video chat, in office, field trips, or a mix of all of the above! (Video chat, field trips and home visits available for PA residents only).
This follow-up includes a one-hour session—ideally scheduled about one month after your intensive—held in person or via video. We’ll check in on your progress, celebrate your growth, and refresh key skills from your intensive as needed. The cost of this session is included in your intensive package.
We will spend 3-5 days working on your trauma and/or OCD together. This can take place via video chat, in person at my office, or via field trips that can be planned for OCD treatment using EXRP or PE for PTSD. All field trips will be tailored specifically to you. If you have OCD or trauma that affects your home life, we can also make arrangements for me to come to you and do PE and/or EXRP in your home space (for PA residents only).

Frequently Asked Questions
-
We don’t accept insurance for therapy intensives because they often limit how much time can be spent in therapy and require strict rules that don’t allow for the depth and personalization intensives are meant to provide. This way, we’re able to focus fully on what you need—taking the time required, customizing the work, and prioritizing meaningful progress without worrying about billing restrictions.
-
Therapy intensives may take place in Veronica’s office or in off-site settings, depending on the structure and goals of the intensive. Some clients benefit from a traditional, private office environment, while others may engage in intensives held in carefully selected settings outside the office for EXRP/PE. The location is discussed and planned in advance to ensure it aligns with clinical needs, comfort, and safety.

As a counselor with personal experience navigating OCD and trauma, I’ve done my own therapeutic work and truly believe in the approaches I use—I’ve experienced them myself. Because I know what it’s like to be in the client’s chair, I bring deep compassion, understanding, and respect for how vulnerable this process can be.
